Q: Is this a type of insurance?
No. The Vital Savings by Aetna is not insurance. The Program provides Members with access to discounted fees by schedules negotiated by Aetna with the providers. The Program/Aetna does not make payments directly to the providers participating in the Program. Each Member is obligated to pay for all services or products but will receive a discount from the providers who have contracted with the Discount Medical Plan Organization to participate in the Program. |

Q: What are the included features in the Aetna Vital Savings Discount Program?
When you purchase either Vital Savings on Dental or Vital Savings on Pharmacy the following features are included free of charge in that program.
- Vital Savings on Vision
You’ll receive access to discounts on exams, eyeglasses, contact lenses — even LASIK eye surgery — through the Vision One® discount program. Choose from a wide selection of optical centers including Sears, JCPenney®, Target®, participating Pearle Vision® centers and others, as well as selected independent optometrist and ophthalmologist offices.
- Vital Savings on Natural Products and Services
You’ll save on many alternative health-related services —from chiropractic manipulation and acupuncture to massage therapy and nutritional counseling — all at reduced rates. You can also save on vitamins, nutritional supplements and other health-related products.
- Vital Savings on Fitness
You’ll receive access to discounts on membership rates at independent health clubs contracted within the GlobalFit™ network and savings on certain home exercise equipment.

- Discounts on Oral Health Care Products

Q. What if I already have insurance?
Discount programs may provide discounts for services not covered by your insurance. Some examples include medication for pre-existing conditions, dental care, vision care, alternative health care, and more. If you currently have insurance, it is important that you evaluate your health needs and insurance coverage to decide if a discount program makes sense for you. |
Q. Who can I sign up?
By choosing the “Family” option, any members of your immediate family can take advantage of the Vital Savings by Aetna discounts. Any new family members can also be signed up. If you sign up for “Single” and want to sign up family members later on, you must change your selection. You can do this online at http://www.vitalsavings.com/ or by calling our toll-free phone number. |

Q. Can I be denied participation?
No. There are no restrictions on participation regardless of your age or medical condition. |

Q. Am I required to pay providers when I receive services?
Yes, payment is due at the time of service, unless you have made different payment arrangements directly with the provider. |
Q. How often can I use the discount program? Is there a usage limit?
There are no limits on how often you and your family can use the discount program, as long as your ID card is valid. |

Q: When can I purchase the Discount Card?
Since there are no medical condition restrictions you can prescribe to this program at anytime of your trip, even if you’re already in the US. |

Q: I’m a visitor and I’ve already purchased visitor’s insurance that covers prescriptions. How does this program help me?
Visitors insurance does not cover any expenses related to pre-existing conditions, including medication. You can use this discount program for medications related to pre-existing conditions.
For example: A refill for high blood pressure won’t be covered by the insurance but it will by the discount card. |
