Atlas America With Pre-Existing Coverage Rider |
| Posted By |
MS , Dated : 13-Jan-2009 10:46 AM |

We bought Atlas America Insurance with Pre-Existing condition rider for my father. The Pre-Existing condition clause clearly stated that covered upto $15,000.
My father had angioplasty done a year before he visited us. While he was here his pulse was running low (it could have turned fatal)and we took him to urgent care and from there to emergency. He needed a pacemaker to fix the things(Doctors clearly said that its nothing related to his previous state and this is an entirely new problem)(Not a pre-existing condition). But when the bills were sent to Atlas America they rejected each and every bill. The insurance also mentioned in their brochure that emergency expanses that lead to hospitalization is also covered but they rejected even all those claims.
So Atlas America neither paid on the grounds of pre-existing and nor on the grounds of new condition.
I feel all these insurance companies are a big scam and you are better without it because anyway they are not going to pay anything so why even spend on paying insurance premium. |

Great experience at Visitorscoverage.com, |

I purchased insurance for my one of my parent, about 2 months months ago from www.visitorscoverage.com.
I had to go to emergency, just after a day of their arrival, as my mom fainted at a shopping mall, I called the ambulance , and while waiting for the ambulance which took about 30 min. to reach, I thought of calling insurance company and ask for the process of using insurance. I was carrying blackberry so I pulled the email where I had visitorscoverage tel number and called, the customer support person Rajeev, was extremely helpful and provided me help and comforted me in that situation, One thing I am greatly impressed that he proactively called me at least 4 time same evening asking about my Moms help. I did not have any problem at hospital. fortunately there was nothing serious , and she got discharged next day, according to Dr. she was exhausted/ tired resulted.
( I think, It was a bad idea to take aged parents to mall and such a tiring thing the very next day, I should have give some time for them to settle ..and come out of the stress/jetleg of that long journey, any way lesson learned)
I was told to send the claim information soon to insurance company so the process can start. I have already got the paramedics/ambulance bill cleared by insurance company, but I am yet to see the hospital bill, but I am told it will be taken care as per the policy, I am hopeful that I wont have much hassle , lets see
But I am pleased with visitorscoverage so far. |

Never Buy Health insurance from ICICI Lombard |

I took insurance from ICICI Lombard from their website icicilombard.com . They charged my Credit Card for more than the specified amount of the premium. The salesrep don't tell everything about the policy when selling. In my case I was advised that I should take 100K coverage for my parents both of them are more than 53 years old. When I was issued the policy I came to know that if the insured is more than 53 years old the policy has limitation for coverage called sub policy. The covered amount is ridiculous as per US standards. I was told I can cancel the polcy anytime and get the unused money back. When I tried to cancel the policy they told me a new clause that the policy can't be cancelled withing 30 days of expiry.
My father was hospitalized and I submitted the claim to this insurance company. They denied the whole claim mentioning that the policy is not valid.
Please never buy insurance from ICICI Lombard.

Bad experiences with Coris America |

I have had a very bad experience with Coris America.
My father has some stomatch infection when he came here.
Coris America said that they would be reimbursing all medical bills for the same.
After the treatment, I faxed them all the bills & they informed me that they would send the payment the same day.
However I was in for a surprise when they did not send the bills. In all the subsequent calls, they are maintaining that they will send the bills the same day.
Their attitude has been extremely bad & uncooperative |

Visitor Health Insurance - Unpaid bills |

I had my parents come in from India more than 4 years back to California. At that time I bought insurance at a (Indian)company based in Ohio-I guess it was called IndUs(I forgot now). I think the underwriter was AIG. So my father had an issue and took him to a nearby hospital where he was diagnosed with cancer (after a biopsy). He was made to stay in the hospital for 5 days for a biopsy. I got a bill for 30k+ and the insurance paid only around 5k+. They denied rest of it. My father left the country immediately. However the bills and then collection letter in his name came for a few years since then but I ignored it. Now since he is in remission, I want him to visit me again next year. Anybody has any ideas about any issues at Port of entry? I will not even ask about health insurance because, I know I wont get one because of his preexisting condition and I am thinking of taking a chance. Any suggestions? Sorry for the long post. |
