All,
There are a few doctors in CA / WA and maybe other states too who charge 50 % of the regular hospital charges for treatment - but accept cash in lieu of insurance - these are popular with people that do not have insurance.
You may explore this option if required.
Ive read that their rates are affordable. |

Tata-Aig -check the insurance sub limits for age group 56-70 |

before buying visitor insurance from tata-aig, carefully examine the sub limits for age group 56-70.
the limits and benefits for this age group are very low and the patient will end up paying a huge amouunt of the treatment cost, in case he/she suffers from major problem. |

Need Advice on selecting the insurance |

Hi,
I have to take a decision to choose between Comprehensive plan Vs. Fixed plan for my visiting parents. I know that comprehensive will give a better coverage than fixed. But the cost difference is too much between these two. Comprehensive is costing double the time as Fixed. By keeping this in my mind, I have the following question.
1. Let us say if I choose the Visitor Care, Is the amount limit in each cateogry is sufficient here in USA. Can we manage within that ? Is anyone has any experience with Visitor Care insurance? Good/Bad please share with me.
I want to know which one of the following you guys recommend?
1. Liason (Comprehensive)
2. inbound USA (Fixed)
Thx

Hi all,
I am planning to take Inbound USA insurance for my father. This insurence says they cover preexisting conditions as long as they didnt occur within last 6 months.
My father is 54 years old and has diabetes since 1 year and he also had heart attack in 2001. Any ideas or any feedback on how these guys handle claims? Is it really true that they cover existing conditions like diabetes, heart problems.
Thanks in advance,

Overseas Insurance Fraud |

Through this email I want to bring your attention to the worst service and
fraud I have had to face due to the bad policies of Oriental Insurance.
I came to USA 3 years ago as a student and bought an overseas mediclaim policy # 8/3/262200/ /STD/ 611518 from Oriental Insurance company agent in
Jammu, India.
I never had to use this policy and my hard working parents had to pay more
than 40,000 rupees in premium over three years in India to keep this policy
renewed and updated.
By the grace of God I never had to use this policy for three days but one
day before it was expiring I had to go to emergency because I developed
extremely severe ear pain.
I went to emergeny on August 16 2003 and today it is March 10 2004 and my
valid claim has not yet been paid.
And the hospital has informed collection agencies and I am going to have to
pay around $1000 from my own pocket.
The customer service people of Coris USA who are suppossed to handle my
claim have always treated my like dirt. They never return my calls and
simple keep throwing me from one person to another but nobody helps.
First of all Oriental agents in jammu didnt give me the full policy number
on the policy document and my parents had to spend weeks to get the policy
number from them.
How were we suppossed to know if the policy number was complete or not ?
I had to go to another follow up visit for the same ear problem cause it had
not healed and it was same condition and they say they wont cover it
although the doctor in the emergency room specificly told to go for a follow
up visit.
Is this what I deserve after paying so much money to oriental insurance ?

Insurance coverage dilemma |

Hi,
I have reviewed this and various other forums for insurance coverage for parents visiting from India with pre-existing conditions like diabetes, heart problem etc. and it seems that for such cases none of the insurance is really the best solution.
So I finally have balanced my options by going with a US insurance for minor cases like cough and cold and other things which I hope will not be dubbed as pre-existing conditions and "on my own" if I need to cover for any other major problems as it seems none of the insurances will cover such expenses and you better be on your own then rely on any of the others !
Good luck to you all and thanks for all the posts , it helped me in making my decision !
Regards,

No Insurance is useful |

Hi I have all the posts but not found single insurance company which is useful. Most of them dont cover for diabetic or blood pressure. Neither do I find any post useful enough that suggests or provides link to insurance company that considers pre-existing conditions.
Doesnt it mean that one should not buy any insurance and pay the doctors bills yourself.
please email me to recommend good insurance company that takes pre-existing conditions into consideration sree_gorty@yahoo.com |

Inbound USA |

Hello,
My parents visited me in August. I had read bad stories about insurance companies in India on this post.
Hence I bought insurance for them from Inbound USA.
My father suffered a stroke and was in a hospital for 7 days. The bill is of the order of $31,000.
The good news is he recovered and is now back in India.
Inbound USA has flatly declared that this is a pre-existing condition. He never had a stroke before, although he had hypertension. I have made an appeal and am waiting on that. I am thinking of contacting a lawyer. I hope they atleast pay majority of the bills.
Does anybody know a lawyer in bay area who works on these issues? ha anybody else had similar case?
I hope my experience helps others in a similar condition. atleat it is relatively easier to pursue the insurance company here.
It might be a good idea to pay more for the insurance for your parents, that covers pre-existing condition, in case they have any pre-existing ailments. At an old age it is most likely they will have something.
