All travel insurance policies, regardless of which company you buy from, will generally only provide coverage for unexpected illnesses or injuries that occur after the policy start date. Due to the short term nature of these plans, they do not offer much coverage for pre-existing conditions and preventive care. There are some policies that provide coverage for acute onset of pre-existing conditions for individuals above 70 however, it is also worth noting that an acute onset of a pre-existing condition can only be diagnosed as such by a doctor at the time of visit. Having said that, it is still important to obtain some coverage, rather than none. Given those limitations, two policies you may want to consider are Safe Travels USA Comprehensive and CoverAmerica - Gold. Before making a purchase, it is strongly recommended that you read the description of coverage for each plan to ensure that you are selecting the policy that best fits your travel needs.
