Work Smart, Enjoy More: A New Workplace Initiative

Work Smart, Enjoy More: A New Workplace Initiative

In the last two years, there has been a paradigm shift in the way the world does business. The global workforce is increasingly becoming remote. Forbes predicts that by the end of the year, 25% of the professional jobs in North America will be completely remote. Prior to the pandemic, VisitorsCoverage had been an on-site workplace. For the safety of our employees, we transitioned to an all-remote environment in March of 2020. This has allowed us to add additional employees in multiple states and time zones. As the pandemic wanes, we are committed to maintaining a 100% remote workplace for the time being or moving to a hybrid environment.

As advantageous as a remote environment can be, there are some challenges. The three biggest being:

  • Maintaining a strong company culture
  • Fostering focused productivity
  • Encouraging a solid work-life balance with more free time to pursue passions and develop skills.

VisitorsCoverage is proud to unveil a new workplace initiative that will benefit both our employees and our customers.

What Is the Work Smart, Enjoy More! initiative?

At VisitorsCoverage we believe that the ability to thrive at work depends on personal and professional satisfaction. It’s in that spirit that the Work Smart, Enjoy More! initiative was born.

The company-wide initiative aims to create an environment that:

  • Encourages open communication
  • Increases productivity
  • Fosters employees’ personal and professional happiness

The two major aspects of the initiative Work Smart and Enjoy More are interconnected. You can’t have one without the other.

What Does Work Smart Mean?

Working smart doesn’t mean you have to work harder. In fact, it means the opposite. Work smart simply means that employees are at their most productive. When employees work at optimal productivity, they give themselves more free time to destress, prioritize personal commitments and learn more. The key to reaching peak productivity is threefold. In order to work smart, employees need to communicate effectively, become an expert in their field, and collaborate.

Effective communication is essential to an employee’s success. One of the hallmarks of a toxic workplace is the implied or explicit disregard of employee opinions. Also, with a remote workforce, communication is key to a successful workplace. The common core here is that everyone is productive in different ways, however being prompt, responsive, and available when our team members need us is critical.

A successful company, one that excels in their market AND values their employees as individuals, listens to what their team members say and uses the information to create a better environment. VisitorsCoverage has done just that.

We ensure that employees know their feelings and opinions matter. Employees feel comfortable being candid with their managers and, in turn, managers respect their team members and work hard to address their concerns.

Being an expert in your field means that you are knowledgeable about your industry and that you stay on top of market expectations and any relevant trends. As we become experts, we become advisors and consultants to the company with our individual skills and expertise, whether they be coding, designing, editing, negotiating, or strategizing. For VisitorsCoverage, this means that our employees have time to read and research about the travel insurance industry, and it also means that they have opportunities to apply this knowledge to their work goals and projects.

Working smart means that you aren’t working alone. By collaborating with your peers on tasks and projects, you’re distributing the workload and ensuring that the outcome is the best it can be. When you work alone, the ideation, scope, and execution of a project is limited to your perspective. When you collaborate, you expand the project’s possibilities. This can mean the difference between a good product or an amazing product. Working smart also means that you are effectively communicating with your team members and being reliable. If each individual does their part, it gives everyone free time to pursue our passions and grow our skills. Work Smart, Enjoy More! requires team players.

What Does Enjoy More Mean?

Enjoying more is a natural byproduct of working smarter. When you work productively, you’re working more efficiently, so you’ll have more free time. You can use this free time to do more of what you enjoy, whether that be reading a good book, playing with your pets, or learning new things. At VisitorsCoverage, we believe that when we give our employees time to grow and nurture themselves with the things they love, we’re fostering an environment where they can thrive professionally. We want everyone to enjoy the journey.

How Does Work Smart, Enjoy More! Benefit Customers?

The main goal for most B2C companies is making sure the customer is satisfied. When employees aren’t happy at work, the quality of their work decreases. This, of course, has a negative impact on the customer.

In an industry like travel insurance, where customer loyalty has been hard to maintain, going the extra mile for travelers is especially important. At this level, they have the motivation, the talent and expertise to give the customer everything they want.

Even before we could properly name it, VisitorsCoverage was already practicing the major aspects of the Work Smart, Enjoy More! initiative. It’s no wonder that we’ve maintained an average customer star rating of 4.8 on Trustpilot and Google Reviews.

If companies are to succeed in their respectives markets, it’s vital that they focus on the individual success of each member of their team. This means helping them be productive as well as valuing the needs and priorities of their personal lives. At VisitorsCoverage, we do indeed work smart and enjoy more.
