Patriot America insurance is a medical insurance plan that provides health coverage and emergency services to individuals and families traveling outside their home country. After the deductible is satisfied, for treatments within the PPO network, the plan pays 100% unto the policy maximum. Outside the PPO network, the plan pays 80% for the first $5,000 and 100% thereafter for each sickness or injury. Outside the USA, the plan pays 100% after deductible.

Home Country Definition

U.S. Citizens: Home Country is where the insured person maintains primary residence. Non-U.S. Citizens: Home Country is the country of which the Insured Person is a citizen or national; including any country where the Insured Person maintains his/her primary residence or usual place of abode and any country of which the Insured Person is the possessor of a validly issued passport. In the event there is more than one home country under the above-listed criteria, the Home Country is the country meeting the above-listed criteria and listed by the Insured as his or her Home Country on the application.

US States Restrictions

Residents of Maryland (MD) state cannot purchase this policy. Applicant with Maryland (MD) state address cannot purchase this policy. Policy still provides coverage for policy holder who is visiting MD State

Q1: Am I eligible for the Patriot America Plan?

The Patriot America Plan is available for any non-US Resident, visiting the USA for a short period of time. It is available to both US and Non US citizens, who permanently live outside the USA, and are traveling to the USA for a short trip.

Q2.What Information do I need to buy the Plan?

You would need the names, dates of birth, passport numbers of the visitors, and a valid credit card to buy the plan.

Q3: When will I receive my ID card?

You can print out your ID card from your confirmation e-mail and it will be used as proof of insurance. While filling out the online application, you will receive confirmation in your e-mail. If you select paper mail/snail mail then you will receive the ID card in the mail within 5-10 business days. You can also retrieve your ID card using MyIMG: Get My ID Card

Q4.Can I renew the plan, if I plan to stay longer?

Yes, if you buy the plan initially for more than 30 days, you can renew the policy. You would need to renew the plan at least two days before the policy expires. There would be an extra $5 renewal charge.

Q5.Can I cancel the plan, if I plan to go back earlier?

Yes, you can cancel and get a refund for the Patriot America Plan, if you need to go back earlier than plan. The following rules apply:

  • 1) Submit cancellation request through the Customer Portal.
  • 2) If you cancel the policy before the start date, you are eligible for a full refund.
  • 3) If you cancel after the policy start date, you can get a refund only if no claims have been filed.
  • 4) $50 cancellation fee applies.
  • Q6.Are pre-existing conditions covered by the Patriot America Plan?

    The Patriot America Plan does not offer any coverage for pre-existing conditions.

    Q7.What's the Rx Discount Card that comes with this plan?

    This is a discount savings program available to every certificate holder of the Patriot travel plans. This program allows card members to purchase prescriptions at one of over 35,000 participating pharmacies in the U.S. and receive the lower of 1) Universal Rx contract price or 2) the pharmacy regular retail price.

    This discount program is not insurance coverage. It is purely a discount program to purchasers of the Patriot travel plans. Use of the discount card does not guarantee that prescribed medication is covered under the insurance benefit plan.

    Q8. What is the Sports riders options?

    Adventure Sports are usually not covered in travel medical policies. With additional premium you can purchase the optional Adventure Sports Rider Coverage. It is available for those up to the age of 64.

    The following activities are covered to the lifetime maximum amounts listed below as long as they are engaged solely for leisure, recreation, or entertainment purposes: abseiling, BMX, bobsledding, bungee jumping, canyoning, caving, hang gliding, heli-skiing, high diving, hot air ballooning, inline skating, jet skiing, jungle zip lining, kayaking, mountain biking, parachuting, paragliding, parascending, piloting a non-commercial aircraft, rappelling, rock climbing or mountaineering (ropes and guides to 4500m from ground level), scuba diving (to 50m), skydiving, snorkeling, snow boarding, snowmobiling, snow skiing, spelunking, surfing, trekking, whitewater rafting (to Class V), and wildlife safaris, and windsurfing. All such activities must be carried out in strict accordance with the rules, regulations and guidelines of the applicable Governing Body or Authority of each such activity.

    The maximum coverage for Adventure sports rider for different age groups are the following:

    • Age 0-49 Maximum Coverage-$50,000
    • Age 50-60 Maximum Coverage- $30,000
    • Age 60-64 Maximum Coverage- $15,000

    You can go to any doctor or hospital of your choice. If you would like, you can choose to go in the PPO network for Patriot America Plan, which is the FirstHealth PPO Network.

    Based on the desired coverage length you have selected, you have to make the full payment at once.

    Since this plan is renewable you can renew it anytime you would like to before the policy expires. There is a renewable fee of $5 that associated with the renewal.
