Q1: Am I eligible for the Patriot Exchange program? This program is designed for students and scholars studying abroad or participants of cultural exchange programs. The member must be actively engaged or participating in an educational or cultural exchange program in the country of assignment through a sponsoring organization or school, or be the spouse or dependent of said student/participant traveling with them. Your plan must become effective within 180 days of your arrival in the United States. The minimum coverage period is 1 month and the maximum coverage period is 48 months. This plan if for people between the ages of 14 days to 64 years. | |
Q2: Are a student's dependents eligible for coverage? Yes, this plan provides coverage for the participants spouse and unmarried dependent children travelling with them. Spouse and dependents can apply for coverage by themselves if they hold a J2 visa, and the J1 visa holder who is participating in the educational or cultural exchange program has purchased a plan through that program. | |
Q5. My program requires an Insurance Compliance Form or a Waiver Form be completed as proof of my insurance. Can you complete this form for me? What should I do? First, purchase the Patriot Exchange Insurance. After your purchase (enrollment) is complete, simply fax or email your school's Compliance or Waiver Form to (317.665.4505 or email: support@visitorscoverage.com). We will complete it and fax it back to your school for you. | |
Q6: Can I extend the Patriot Exchange plan? Yes, if you purchase the plan for a minimum of three months, coverage may be extended for a total of up to 48 months. | |
Q7: Can I cancel the Patriot Exchange plan? Yes, you can cancel this plan. Full refund is available if you request for cancellation before the start date. Only monthly is refund available, if cancellation is requested after start date and no claims have been made. $50 Cancellation fee is applicable. | |
Q8: Does this plan cover any pre-existing conditions? Yes, after 12 months of continuous coverage, this plan covers up to $500 per year; 50,000 lifetime maximum for pre-existing conditions. For more details & exclusions regarding the pre-existing conditions, please check the Inbound Guest plan brochure. | |

Q11: What information do I need to purchase this insurance? Name(s), date of birth, and passport number of the visitor(s). | |
Q12: When will I receive my ID card? The print out of the on-line confirmation /virtual ID card is the proof of insurance and can be used when you visit the doctor or hospital. While filling out the online application, if you select online fulfillment you will not receive anything in snail mail but in your email. If you select the snail mail option then you won't receive your ID card in email but to your mailing address within 5-10 business days. | |
