Q
Are visitors to the US required to have travel insurance?

A

As of today it is not required. However, in some cases, the officer at port of entry may ask questions related to medical care and insurance. Having proof of insurance certainly helps.

Green Card holders and visitors with F1 and J1 visas are however required to have insurance under the Affordable Care Act.
