My parents currently hold a basic medical insurance plan, but I want to buy a comprehensive plan for them. Is it possible? If so, how will two insurance companies work together if I have to make a claim?

You may have more than one policy. However, the same bill can not be submitted to both insurance companies. You may consider keeping just one policy with higher policy limits. You can see list of insurance policies here: Visitors' Insurance Plans
