I am coming to the USA from New Zealand on 6th September arriving back in NZ 23rd September. I have coronary heart disease. My doctor has told me I have a very low risk of having a heart attack. Can I get coverage for this?

The plans that we offer are short term travel medical insurance plans. These generally provide coverage for any unexpected and new illnesses or injuries, that may occur after the policy goes into effect. These do not provide much coverage for pre-existing conditions,or preventive care, so no travel medical insurance policy will provide you with full coverage for your coronary heart disease.

That being said, for your stay in the U.S., you can consider the CoverAmerica-Gold Plan. It offers a limited amount of coverage only for an acute onset of a pre-existing condition which could be helpful in the event of a related emergency. It is important to note that it is always up to the attending physician to determine if a particular event would be considered an acute onset of a pre-existing condition at the time of visit.
