My mother-in-law lives in South Africa and would like to spend 6 months with us in the US. She has high blood pressure, a-fib, and hypothyroidism. While she is here, she will need monthly doctor visits and lab draws to ensure her Coumadin dose is correct. She is stable and well-controlled. If she is in the US and has a sudden, new onset of a-fib and angina and needs to go to the ER, is this care covered? Do any of the plans cover the monthly doctor appointments? Thanks for your help!!

Yes, you can get a travel medical Insurance for a visitor coming to the US for a short trip. The policies cover only new medical conditions and travel emergencies. Any pre-existing conditions, preventative care, routine checkups, etc. are not covered. Some policies may cover for acute onset of pre-existing conditions.
