Both the CoverAmerica - Gold and Safe Travels USA Comprehensive travel insurance policies provide coverage for new and unexpected illness or injury that occurs after the policy goes into effect. This does not include preventive care, pre-existing conditions, dental or vision. Very few plans offer coverage for acute onset of pre-existing conditions for people 70 years and over. Acute onset is a sudden and unexpected recurrence of a pre-existing condition that happens without warning and requires immediate medical attention. The most popular comprehensive plan for people between 70 to 79 is the CoverAmerica - Gold plan. The most popular plan for people between age 80 to 89 is the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive plan. These are the plans that offer the highest acute onset coverage for these age groups. Keep in mind that it is always up to the attending physician to determine if a given medical situation the result of a pre-existing condition or not, and also if it would be considered an acute onset. You can find out more details about acute onset of pre-existing conditions in the plan description of coverage. Please feel free to call us at 1-866-384-9104 or email us at support@visitorscoverage.com if you have any further questions or need assistance buying one of these two plans.
