Deductible is the amount that you are responsible for, before insurance company starts paying for any covered expenses. Deductible for this type of plan is applicable once per incident.

1. The moment we receive the application and correct premium (if application and payment is made online or by fax)
2. 12:01am US Eastern Time on the date we receive your application and payment (if application and payment is made by mail)
3. 12:01am US Eastern Time on the date you meet eligibility requirements.

Coverage terminates on the earliest of:
1. 11:59pm US Eastern Time on the last day of the period for which you have paid premium
2. 11:59pm US Eastern Time on the last date requested on your application
3. 12:01am US Eastern Time on the date you no longer meet eligibility requirements.

Q : Who is eligible to buy Student Secure Insurance? You must meet the following criteria to be eligible for Student Secure:

Q: Do I have to be a full-time student to purchase your Student Secure Insurance? Yes; to be eligible for Student Secure you must be a full-time student at a college or university excluding online colleges and universities, within 31 days of becoming a full-time student, or a full-time scholar affiliated with an education institution performing work or research for at least 30 hours per week. | |
Q: How will my proof of insurance be sent to me? If you apply online, the application process generally takes about 10 minutes. If you submit an application by e-mail, fax or mail, it will be processed by the second business day that the completed application and correct premium are received. | |
Q: When I apply online, when do I get my fulfillment? Your fulfillment is your policy information. When you apply online for your policy, your fulfillment will be available in your Web browser immediately following the successful purchase of the plan. A copy of the fulfillment will also be sent to the e-mail address you provided on the application. Your fulfillment will include: a summary of benefits, name(s) of policy member(s), ID cards, receipt, and the description of coverage. | |
Q: I need coverage to begin as soon as possible. Is it possible for my Student Secure policy to go into effect the day I enroll? No, however, your policy can go into effect as soon as one day after you enroll online. | |
Q: Are a student's dependents eligible for coverage? Yes, the dependents must meet all of the following requirements:

Q : Can I buy Student Secure Insurance if I am already studying outside my home country? Yes. You can enroll in Student Secure Insurance plan regardless of how long you have been studying outside your home country, as long as you fulfill the eligibility requirements in Question 1 above. | |
Q : Can I extend my coverage? Yes, you can extend the coverage up to 4 years as long as you fulfill the eligibility requirements in Question 1 above. Q : How do I extend my coverage? Extensions must be completed within 30 days prior to the scheduled expiration date. Extensions may be transacted at any time after the initial effective date. Extensions are available up to 12 months at a time and the deductible and coinsurance must be re-satisfied every 12 months unless there is a break in coverage. Q : Does Student Secure Insurance cover Pre-Existing Conditions? Student Secure - Smart does not provide benefits for pre-existing condition. A pre existing condition is any Injury or Illness which, within the 12 months prior to the Effective Date of Coverage, manifested itself, exhibited symptoms, or required medical treatment or medication, or for which a Physician was consulted. | |

Q : Will my Student Secure Insurance cover me if I travel outside the U.S.? Yes. Student Secure Insurance covers the insured worldwide, except in your home country, as long as you fulfill the requirements in Question 1 above. | |
Q : After graduation, I plan to remain in the U.S. for practical training. Am I still eligible for coverage under Student Secure? No. Once you graduate and are no longer attending school, you are no longer eligible for Student Secure. You should instead enroll in a Visitors insurance Plan. | |
