Does visitors insurance cover heart related illness for travelers with heart conditions?

Answer provided by a licensed Insurance advisorLicensed U.S. Insurance Specialist at VisitorsCoverage
Travel insurance policies only provide coverage for new and unexpected illness or injury that begins after the policy goes into effect. This does not cover preventive care, pre-existing conditions, dental or vision. However, a few plans, such as CoverAmerica - Gold, do offer some coverage for acute onset of pre-existing conditions. An acute onset is defined as a sudden and unexpected recurrence of a pre-existing condition that requires immediate medical attention. It is always up to the attending physician to determine if a given medical situation is the result of a pre-existing condition or not, and also if it would be considered an acute onset.
