Travel insurance policies only provide coverage for new and unexpected illness or injury that begins after the policy goes into effect. This does not cover preventive care, pre-existing conditions, dental or vision. However, a few plans, such as CoverAmerica - Gold, do offer some coverage for acute onset of pre-existing conditions. An acute onset is defined as a sudden and unexpected recurrence of a pre-existing condition that requires immediate medical attention. It is always up to the attending physician to determine if a given medical situation is the result of a pre-existing condition or not, and also if it would be considered an acute onset. Please feel free to call us at 1-866-384-9104 or email us at support@visitorscoverage.com if you have any further questions or need assistance purchasing a plan.
