    The Atlas Essential International plan is available for:

  • Non-US citizens traveling outside their home country and country of citizenship. (If you are a Non-US resident traveling to the USA, you are eligible for Atlas America plan.
  • US citizens traveling outside the U.S.
  • The Atlas Essential International plan is not available for US citizens coming back to the USA, or other Non-US citizens going back to their Home Country/Country of citizenship.
  • You can go to any doctor or hospital of your choice and be covered 100% for eligible medical expenses with Atlas Essential International.
    The cost of Atlas Essential International varies based on several qualifying criteria, such as traveler’s age, duration or length of trip, and selected coverage benefit limits. Typically, Atlas Essential International can cost about $2 a day for the duration of the trip for a person 50 years of age selecting International travel coverage area that does not include USA .

    Each insurance company may have their own state-specific regulations on where plans can be sold. These state restrictions only impact residents from those specific states from purchasing these plans. However, if you are traveling to the United States, you will be covered in all 50 states during your active Atlas Essential International policy period.
    Yes, you can extend the Atlas Essential International policy. It is recommended to extend the plan at least two days before the policy expires. There is be an $5 extension fee added to the premium for the additional days of coverage. The policy can be extended for a minimum of 5 days and up to a maximum of 365 days.

    Yes, you can cancel and get a refund for the Atlas Essential International, if you need to go back earlier than planned. The following rules apply:

  • Written request is required for any cancellation.
  • You can get a refund back, only if no claim has been filed.
  • If you cancel before the start date, you would get the full refund back.
  • If you cancel after the policy start date, you can get a pro-rated refund for the remaining days left on the policy. Please note, there is a 5-day minimum purchase at the onset, and if the policy is cancelled after the effective date the policy must retain a minimum of 5-days.
  • $25 cancellation fee applies.
  • If there are any claims on file, you would not get any refund back.
  • You cannot remove one person from the Atlas Essential International policy if other travelers are included. We recommend letting the current policy lapse with all travelers or canceling and repurchasing for the remaining travelers as per the policy terms.
    In order to apply for Atlas Essential International, you will need names, coverage duration, date(s) of birth, home country address, and a valid credit card.
    An email confirmation will be sent after purchase. The email will include links and instructions on how to access and print out your Atlas Essential International ID card.
    Coverage will be provided in all eligible countries visited with the exception of your Home Country and any restricted countries listed in the Atlas Essential International policy documentation. Coverage will only be offered within the policy start and end dates. Please note: If any part of your trip includes the United States, please select it as your destination country.

    Pre-existing conditions and acute onset of pre-existing conditions are not covered by the Atlas Essential America plan. A Pre-existing condition is defined as an Injury, illness, sickness, disease, or other physical, medical, mental, or nervous conditions, disorder or ailment (whether known or unknown) that, with reasonable medical certainty, existed at the time of application or within the 2 years immediately preceding the certificate effective date. Please check the Description of Coverage for more information about what is considered a pre-existing condition.

    Atlas Essential International can cover for COVID-19 and will be treated the same as any other eligible medical condition so long as the virus is contracted after the policy effective date and you have departed from the country of residence.
