Pre-existing Conditions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered under Travel Medical plans unless classified as an acute onset of pre-existing condition by a physician and the insurer. Here are some common pre-existing conditions:

Visitor Insurance Claim Process
The Atlas International Premium plan is available for: US and Non-US citizens traveling outside their home country and country of citizenship.
Pre-existing conditions are not covered by Atlas International Premium plan. However, the Atlas International Premium plan covers up to the policy maximum for acute onset of pre-existing conditions in people up to age 79. It is up to the attending physician to determine if a particular medical situation is related to pre-existing condition or not, and also if it would be considered as an acute onset or not. Please check the Description of Coverage for more information about what is considered as acute onset of pre-existing condition.

Yes, you can cancel and get a refund for the Atlas International Premium plan if you need to go back earlier than planned. The following rules apply:
- Written request is required for any cancellation.
- You can get a refund back, only if no claim has been filed.
- If you cancel before the start date, you would get the full refund back.
- If you cancel after the policy start date, you can get a pro-rated refund for the number of days left in the policy. Please note, there is a 5-day minimum purchase at the onset, and if the policy is cancelled after the effective date the policy must retain a minimum of 5-days.
- $25 cancellation fee applies.
- If there is any claim on file, you would not get any refund back.
Based on the desired coverage length you have selected, you have to make the full payment at once.
Since this plan is renewable you can renew it anytime you would like to before the policy expires. There is a renewable fee of $5 that associated with the renewal.
Coverage on the travel medical insurance plan will begin on the date of departure (12:01am EST) and once the traveler has left their home country. Coverage areas are anywhere outside one's' home country as long as the policy is active. The coverage will end immediately once the traveler has entered back into their home country and at 11:59pm EST on the last date of coverage
An acute onset is a sudden unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a pre-existing condition which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of physician recommendations or symptoms, is of short duration. It has to be an acute medical condition that requires immediate medical attention. More conditions and restrictions apply. Please check the Atlas International Premium Description of Coverage to understand what is covered under acute onset of pre-existing condition.
Through the Air Doctor platform, travelers can easily locate nearby doctors, book appointments, and choose between in-person or video consultations. Payments are handled directly, eliminating the need to pay upfront or file claims for reimbursement, making healthcare access abroad seamless and stress-free. This applies to policies purchased on or after January 15, 2025. Please review your plan\'s specific documents for any limits or exclusions.
