Safe Travels USA - Cost Saver insurance is a visitor insurance plan that provides medical coverage and emergency services to individuals /families/groups, traveling to USA. Within the PPO network, after the deductible is satisfied, the plan pays 100% up to the policy maximum. Outside of the PPO network, the plan pays 80% for the first $5,000 and then 100% thereafter towards eligible covered expenses for each sickness or injury.

Q1: Am I eligible for the Safe Travels USA Cost Saver Plan?
The Safe Travels USA Cost Saver Plan is available for any non-US citizen or Resident, visiting the USA and anywhere outside their home country, for a short period of time. It is not available for US citizens, US Green Card Holders or long term visa holders, who pay taxes in the USA.
Q2.What Information do I need to buy the Plan?
You would need the names, dates of birth, passport numbers of the visitors, the visitor's home country address and a valid credit card to buy the plan.
Q3: When will I receive my ID card?
You can print out your ID card from your confirmation e-mail and it will be used as proof of insurance. Nothing is sent to the mailing address in the home country.
Q4.Can I extend the plan, if I plan to stay longer?
Yes, if you buy the plan initially for more than 5 days, you can extend the policy. You would need to extend the plan at least two days before the policy expires. There would be an extra $5 extension charge.
Q5.Can I cancel the plan, if I plan to go back earlier?
Yes, you can cancel and get a refund for the Safe Travels USA Cost Saver Plan, if you need to go back earlier than planned. The following rules apply:
Q6.Are pre-existing conditions covered by the Safe Travels USA Cost Saver Plan?
Pre-existing conditions are not covered in the Safe Travels USA Cost Saver Plan. It covers only up to $1,000 for an unexpected recurrence of pre-existing conditions. Please check the Description of Coverage for more information about what is considered as acute onset of pre-existing condition.
Q7.What is an unexpected recurrence of pre-existing condition?
An unexpected recurrence is a sudden unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a Pre-existing Condition which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of Physician recommendations or symptoms, is of short duration. It has to be an acute medical condition that requires immediate medical attention. More conditions and restrictions apply. Please check the Description of Coverage to understand what is covered under unexpected recurrence of pre-existing condition.
Q8.Are adventure Sports Covered in the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive Plan?
Adventure or extreme spots like skiing,Sky diving,Mountain biking, rafting etc are not covered in the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive Plan. It offers optional coverage only for some specific athletic sports.
Q9. What is the Athletic Sports riders options?
Athletic Sports are usually not covered in travel medical policies. With additional premium you can purchase the optional Athletic Sports Rider Coverage with the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive Plan. There are two classes of sports specified in plan for optional coverage. Class 1 and Class 2.

Q10: Which doctor or hospital can I go to?
You can go to any doctor or hospital of your choice. If you would like, you can choose to go in the PPO network for Safe Travels USA Cost Saver Plan, which is the FirstHealth PPO Network.

Q13: When I buy this plan, do I need to make the full payment at once or do I have the option of paying it on a monthly basis?
Based on the desired coverage length you have selected, you have to make the full payment at once.
Since this plan is extendable you can extend it anytime you would like to before the policy expires. There is a extendable fee of $5 that associated with the extension.
Q14: Where can I find answers to other questions I have?

Q15: Does Safe Travels cover coronavirus?
Depending on when you purchased a travel insurance policy and the type of plan purchased, coverage for coronavirus, if any, may vary. For more in-depth information regarding the impact of the coronavirus on travel insurance, please go to our information hub.
Q16: Does Safe Travels USA-Cost Saver cover the Coronavirus vaccination?
Safe Travels USA-Cost Saver doesn't cover COVID-19 vaccinations but will cover COVID-19 treatment and services the same as any other eligible condition if COVID-19 is contracted after the policy effective date. Preventative care related to COVD-19, like vaccinations, aren't covered under the policy. Please login to My Policy to view your plan specific documents for any limits or exclusions.
Q17. When does my coverage start on my travel medical insurance plan?
Coverage on a travel medical insurance plan will begin on the date of departure and once the traveler has left their home country. Coverage areas are anywhere outside ones' home country as long as the policy is active. The coverage will end immediately once the traveler has entered back into their home country.
Q18. How does the in-network deductible work?
If you go to an in-network provider, the deductible amount will be $0. Please keep in mind, if you go to an out-of network provider, you will have to fully satisfy the deductible chosen on your policy before the insurance company will pay for any eligible medical treatment and services.
