Q2. When I visit urgent care do I need to inform the insurance company?

No unless there is a need for any surgery or hospitalization.  Read more details about this in the insurance policy brochure.

Q3. When I visit the doctor or hospital do I need to pay up front and get reimbursed or the doctor/hospital will send the bill directly to the insurance company?

Depending on the various factors including specific insurance company rules, the insurance company can make the payment directly to the hospital/Dr/Facility or may reimburse the payment to the insured for all approved and qualified claims as per the insurance plan.

Q4. How does the claim process work?

After taking the treatment, you should file a claim with the insurance company. You will need to fill a claim form and submit it with the insurance company. Up on verification and approval of the claim the insurance company can reimburse the payment.

Q5. How soon do I get my claim?

The time taken to process the claim may vary from case to case since it involves information verification and other manual administrative tasks.  It can take from a few weeks to several weeks. You can follow-up with the insurance claim department to check the progress of your claim. The contact number and other claim information can be found on the ID card.

Q6. Which doctors/Hospitals can I go to? Where and what is the provider list?

Generally you can go any Doctor, but for the maximum benefit you should prefer going to the Network (Provider Directory) recommended by the Plan.
You can find provider Dr. and Hospital in the "Provider Directory" for a particular plan. Refer the Provider Directory given against each plan on the Insurance main page.

Q7. How soon does the policy come in effect?

It's instant; the policy can come in effect immediately. Basically the start date you choose will govern the policy.

Q8. What is the proof of buying a policy? Will I get an ID card ?

YES ! if you are buying online you get a "Virtual ID Card" ready to be used immediately. Take a printout of that. You also receive it in your email. A Paper Copy of ID card will be delivered to your mailing address along with all other instructions and documents.

Q9. I recently bought the insurance and have not received the ID card. What should I do?
The print out of the virtual ID card which you have taken when you purchased the policy and received as an email, are the proof of insurance and can be used as the insurance card.

No.

Q12. How does the cancellation/refund procedure work and is the premium paid refundable when cancelled?

Visitor insurance plans available on this website are cancelable, however the refund and cancellation procedure and policy is different for each company.  While some companies allow you to cancel the policy before its start date, others allow you to cancel the policy and get the refund on prorate basis.

If you want to cancel your policy send an email to support@visitorscoverage.com with complete details including policy number, date of purchase, and the reason for plan cancellation.  Upon receipt of this information we will initiate the policy cancellation with the insurance company.  Please allow 7-10 business days to process the cancellation.
