You may purchase a J1 compliant plan for up to a year at a time, and continue to extend the policy up to a continuous 48 months as long as you have the J-1 visa. Before making your purchase, we recommend checking with the institution which you will be attending to see if they have other requirements in addition to the J1 requirements set by the US Immigration Department.
