Does travel insurance cover trips to countries with travel advisories?

Answer provided by a licensed Insurance advisorLicensed U.S. Insurance Specialist at VisitorsCoverage
Travel medical insurance typically covers new medical conditions that occur while traveling in a country with a travel advisory. However, political evacuation benefits may not apply if the advisory was issued before arrival. Coverage for terrorism-related injuries may also be excluded. Boat trips are generally covered as long as you're outside your home country. For lost belongings, some policies offer limited coverage for checked luggage lost by common carriers, but may not cover theft of personal items.
