If a policy says it includes COVID-19, what does that mean?

Updated May 02, 2024
Answer provided by a licensed Insurance advisorLicensed U.S. Insurance Specialist at VisitorsCoverage
If a policy includes coverage for COVID-19, the virus will be treated the same as any other eligible condition under the policy. Coverage for treatment and services related to COVID-19 can be covered under the policy up to the maximum limits stated in the policy wording as long as the virus was contracted after the policy's effective date. Policyholders should read the certificate wording for any limits or exclusions.
