Trip Protection Basic (A.M. Best Rating: A) is an entry-level trip insurance plan that helps protect travelers against covered travel disruptions and unexpected trip expenses. It offers essential benefits including Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Emergency Medical Expenses, baggage protection, and travel delay coverage, making it a practical choice for domestic and international travel. Coverage is available for trips up to 180 days.

Trip Protection Basic does not participate in any PPO network. You can visit any doctor or hospital of your choice.

Trip Protection Basic does not cover pre-existing conditions.

Eligibility

  • For U.S residents traveling within the U.S and/or internationally
  • For Age 14 days to 99 years of age
  • Coverage for a maximum of 180 days (30 days for HI residents)
  • Must be purchased prior to departure.
  • Trip must be scheduled, prepaid, and 100 miles or more from your primary residence.
  • Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) must be purchased within 20 days of initial trip deposit date. Not available if the departure date is less than 2 days from today.

US Residents, who live in the US, are covered by these plans, for traveling both within the US, as well as internationally outside the US.

Pre-existing conditions are not covered in the policy.

Each insurance company may have their own state-specific regulations on where plans can be sold. These state restrictions only impact residents from those specific states from purchasing these plans. However, if you are traveling to the United States, you will be covered in all 50 states during your active policy period.

Trip plans are not renewable. In case of change of plans, you would need to purchase a new plan.

You may cancel the insurance by giving written consent within the first to occur of the following: (a) 14-day free look back period from the effective date of your insurance; (b) Your scheduled departure date. If you do this, the company will refund your premium paid provided no claim is under the policy.

You cannot remove one person from the policy if other travelers are included. We recommend letting the current policy lapse with all travelers or canceling and repurchasing for the remaining travelers as per the policy terms.

You will need names, coverage duration, date(s) of birth, home country address, total nonrefundable trip costs, and a valid credit card.

After purchasing the policy online, you will receive your ID card in your confirmation email.
Coverage will be provided in all eligible countries visited with the exception of your Home Country and any restricted countries listed in the policy documentation. Coverage will only be offered within the policy start and end dates. Please note: If any part of your trip includes the United States, please select it as your destination country.

Seven Corners Trip Protection Basic can cover for COVID-19 and will be treated the same as any other eligible medical condition so long as the virus is contracted after the policy effective date and you have departed from the country of residence. Only the primary destination in the application will be listed on the policy documents, but rest assured that all other eligible inputted countries will be covered during the active policy period.

Coverage on a trip insurance plan will begin the day after you have purchased your policy and will cover you for reasons such as trip cancellation prior to the departure date.

The Seven Corners Trip Protection Basic plan does not cover for the COVID-19 vaccine/booster, but will cover COVID-19 treatment and services the same as any other eligible condition if contracted after the policy effective date. Preventative care related to COVID-19, like vaccines/boosters is not covered under the policy. Please sign in to your account to view your plan specific documents for any limits or exclusions.

Seven Corners Trip Protection Basic will only cover for COVID-19 testing if the policyholder is experiencing symptoms and the test is ordered by an attending physician for diagnostic purposes. COVID-19 tests to meet travel requirements will not be covered.

Quarantine coverage in Seven Corners Trip Protection Basic plans fall under the “Trip Delay” benefit. Policyholders who test positive and are ordered by a physician to quarantine can utilize the Trip Delay benefit to cover any expenses incurred while quarantining. The Trip Delay benefit will provide policyholders a specified monetary amount. A policyholder can use their Trip Delay benefit on; reasonable accommodation, meals, telephone calls and local transportation expenses. Receipts must accompany the Reasonable Additional Expenses incurred.

The trip cost should include any non-refundable payments made related to the trip. In case of unforeseen cancellation of the trip, these costs would be lost. Examples of these are costs of airline tickets, hotel reservations, tour reservations, etc.

Seven Corners Trip Protection Basic has an optional Cancel for Any Reason benefit that can be added to a policy. Cancel for Any Reason must be purchased within 20 days of your initial trip payment date. Please review your policy terms and conditions for a list of exclusions and restrictions.

All options of the plan would cover for the specific covered reasons. Some of these include: Sickness, Injury or Death, Felonious Assault, Court Ordered Appearance, Military Duty for Natural Disaster Relief, Jury Duty, Termination/Layoff, Strike, Weather, Hijacking, Terrorist Incident, Traffic Accident, Bankruptcy/Default, Quarantine, Residence Uninhabitable

Trip cancellation benefits become available if the trip is cancelled before the journey begins (before the start date of the policy). Trip interruption benefits are available after the journey begins. If for some documented covered reason, the trip is cancelled after the journey starts, the insured person has to go back to the home country.

The insurance provider recommends that you submit any correction requests in writing as your policy is a legally enforceable document. Following receipt of the correction, we send the request to the insurance provider; normally, the updates require 3-5 business days. They are processed in the order that they are received. We advise double-checking the information on the application before completing the purchase to prevent any errors and corrections.
Seven Corners Trip Protection Basic has an optional Interruption for Any Reason benefit that can be added to a policy. Interruption for Any Reason must be purchased within 20 days of your initial trip payment date. This can be purchased with an additional premium at the time of purchase. Please review your policy terms and conditions for a list of exclusions and restrictions.
The optional Rental Car Damage benefit offered in the Seven Corners Trip Protection Basic plan can provide reimbursement you up to $35,000 if your rental car is damaged while on a trip due to collision, theft, vandalism, natural disaster, stolen and not recovered, or any cause beyond your control while in your possession. This can be purchased with an additional premium at the time of purchase.
The optional Sports and Golf Equipment Rental benefit can provide reimbursement up to $2,500 per item, to a maximum of $5,000 for rental sports or golf equipment if lost, stolen, damaged, destroyed or delayed by a common carrier for 6 or more hours during your trip. This can be purchased with an additional premium at the time of purchase.

Seven Corners Trip Protection Basic can cover Monkeypox and will treat it the same as any other eligible medical condition so long as the virus is contracted after the policy effective date and you have departed your home country. The Seven Corners Trip Protection Basic plan does not cover for the Monkeypox vaccine, but will cover Monkeypox treatment and services the same as any other eligible condition if the virus was contracted after the policy effective date. If your original payment method is no longer valid, your financial institution should provide a refund by issuing a check or returning the funds to you. In case the refund is returned to the insurance company, the processing might take up to 45 days, and we'll inform you accordingly.
