Patriot Exchange is an A- rated comprehensive Travel Medical insurance plan that provides medical coverage and other covered travel and emergency services for a traveler's temporary stay outside of their home country. The coverage duration available is from 5 days to 365 days. While in the U.S, after the deductible is satisfied within the United Healthcare PPO network, the plan will pay 100% of eligible medical expenses up to the policy maximum.     The Adventure Sports Rider is available for those up to the age of 65. The following activities are covered to the lifetime maximum amounts listed below as long as they are engaged solely for leisure, recreation, or entertainment purposes:any Illness or Injury sustained while taking part in activities designated as Adventure Sports, which are limited to the following: abseiling; BMX; bobsledding; bungee jumping; canyoning; caving; hot air ballooning; jungle zip lining; parachuting; paragliding; parascending; rappelling; skydiving; spelunking; whitewater kayaking or whitewater rafting in water less than Class V difficulty; wildlife safaris; and windsurfing.

    This program is designed for students and scholars studying abroad or participants of cultural exchange programs. The member must be actively engaged or participating in an educational or cultural exchange program in the country of assignment through a sponsoring organization or school, or be the spouse or dependent of said student/participant traveling with them.

    Your plan must become effective within 180 days of your arrival in the United States. The minimum coverage period is 5 days and the maximum coverage period is 48 months. This plan if for people between the ages of 31 days to 64 years.
    Coverage becomes effective when the group member and his/her traveling dependents have legally departed the Home Country and legally entered the Host Country and are not citizens of the host
    Country.

    Yes, after 12 months of continuous coverage, this plan covers up to $500 per year; $1,500 lifetime maximum for pre-existing conditions. For more details & exclusions regarding the pre-existing conditions, please check the plan Description of Coverage.

    Within the USA, the network provider for this plan is UnitedHealthcare Network. You may also go to any doctor or medical facility of your choice.

    Each insurance company may have their own state-specific regulations on where plans can be sold. These state restrictions only impact residents from those specific states from purchasing these plans. However, if you are traveling to the United States, you will be covered in all 50 states during your active policy period.

    Yes, if you purchase the plan initially for a minimum of 5 days, coverage may be extended for a total of up to 48 months.

    Yes, you can cancel this plan. Full refund is available if you request for cancellation before the start date. After the start date, a refund for the unused days is available if no claims have been made. $50 Cancellation fee is applicable.

    You cannot remove one person from the policy if other travelers are included. We recommend letting the current policy lapse with all travelers or canceling and repurchasing for the remaining travelers as per the policy terms.

    You will need names, coverage duration, date(s) of birth, home country address, and a valid credit card.

    The print out of the on-line confirmation/virtual ID card is the proof of insurance and can be used when you visit the doctor or hospital. When completing the online application, choosing online fulfillment means you'll receive everything via email.

    Patriot Exchange can cover for COVID-19 and will be treated the same as any other eligible medical condition so long as the virus is contracted after the policy effective date and you have departed from the country of residence.     Coverage will begin on the date selected and once the policyholder has left their home country. The policy will only cover for conditions that occur after the policy effective date.
    Only the primary destination in the application will be listed on the policy documents, but rest assured that all other eligible inputted countries will be covered during the active policy period.

    Coverage on the travel medical insurance plan will begin on the date of departure (12:01am EST) and once the traveler has left their home country. Coverage areas are eligible countries outside one's home country as long as the policy is active. The coverage will end immediately once the traveler has entered back into their home country and at 12:01am EST the day after the last date of coverage.

    No, your Patriot Exchange plan won't be extended or renewed automatically. You have to sign into your account online and activate the extension or renewal yourself. Not all plans are extendable or renewable, so be sure to review your policy terms and conditions for eligibility.

    The Patriot Exchange plan does not cover for the COVID-19 vaccine/booster, but will cover COVID-19 treatment and services the same as any other eligible condition if contracted after the policy effective date.     Patriot Exchange will only cover for COVID-19 testing if the policyholder is experiencing symptoms and the test is ordered by an attending physician for diagnostic purposes. COVID-19 tests to meet travel requirements will not be covered.

    The Patriot Exchange plan does not offer any coverage for quarantine.

    Yes, this plan provides coverage for the participant's spouse and unmarried dependent children aged between 31 days and 19 years old, traveling with them. Spouse and dependents can apply for coverage by themselves if they hold a J2 visa, and the J1 visa holder who is participating in the educational or cultural exchange program has purchased a plan through that program.

    No, this plan does not cover for pregnancy.

    The insurance provider recommends that you submit any correction requests in writing as your policy is a legally enforceable document. Following receipt of the correction, we send the request to the insurance provider; normally, the updates require 3-5 business days. They are processed in the order that they are received. We advise double-checking the information on the application before completing the purchase to prevent any errors and corrections.

    The Adventure Sports Rider offered in the Patriot Exchange plan must be purchased at the time of application. The rider is designed to cover a policyholder while participating in the following activities if the activity is solely for leisure, recreation or entertainment purposes:abseiling, BMX, bobsledding, bungee jumping, canyoning, caving, hang gliding, heli-skiing, high diving, hot air ballooning, inline skating, jet skiing, jungle zip lining, kayaking, mountain biking, parachuting, paragliding, parascending, piloting a non-commercial aircraft, rappelling, rock climbing or mountaineering (ropes and guides to 4500m from ground level), scuba diving (to 50m), skydiving, snorkeling, snowboarding, snowmobiling, snow skiing, spelunking, surfing, trekking, whitewater rafting (to Class V), and wildlife safaris, and windsurfing.

    All such activities must be carried out in strict accordance with the rules, regulations and guidelines of the applicable Governing Body or Authority of each such activity. PLEASE NOTE: Certain sports activities are never covered, regardless of whether or not you purchase the Adventure Sports Rider. Please see exclusions page. Please note this is only a summary of Adventure Sports and exclusions. For additional information, please refer to the Certificate of Insurance.

    The Mobile Device Protection rider is an optional coverage that can cover the insured's cellular phone in case of damages during travel. The optional rider can either provide coverage for repair costs or some coverage for replacing the cellular phone.
    The Collision Add-On rider covers up to $50,000 for collision sports, $250 for lost baggage, $500 for legal assistance fees, and up to $2,000 for personal liability.

    Collision sports involve participants intentionally hitting or colliding with each other or objects including American football, boxing, ice hockey, lacrosse, full-contact martial arts, rodeo, rugby, and wrestling.
    The Non-Collision Add-On rider covers medical expenses for non-collision sports, up to $250 for lost or stolen baggage, $500 for legal assistance fees, and up to $2,000 for personal liability.

    A non-collision sports activity is one undertaken by amateurs for recreational, entertainment, or fitness purposes, without collisions.
    Yes, you may purchase the policy even after the traveler has entered their destination country. Eligible benefits and coverage will begin after the policy’s effective start date.
