Expecting mothers should take extra precautions when traveling, and in some cases may want to consider avoiding travel altogether. In most cases, though, traveling pregnant is perfectly fine and can be made even more comfortable by following a few helpful travel tips.

Pregnant women should always schedule a doctor visit before traveling by plane to make sure that air travel will not disrupt their health or the health of their baby. Other tips include requesting the right plane seat, bringing any necessary snacks or medications, and avoiding certain regions are just a few of the ways women can stay healthy while traveling.

Travel medical insurance plans generally do not cover maternity, pregnancy, or childbirth. However, we do offer two plans that can cover emergency pregnancy complications.

Atlas America: may cover complications due to pregnancy up until the first 26 weeks of gestation.

Safe Travels USA Comprehensive: may cover up to $1,000 for emergency medical treatment due to pregnancy.
