What is Common Carrier Accidental Death Coverage?

What is Common Carrier Accidental Death Coverage?

Common carrier accidental death coverage is a travel insurance benefit that provides your beneficiary a lump sum in the event of your death while flying on a commercial jet, public bus, or other mode of public transportation.

It is typically an add-on benefit which you can choose to include in your travel medical insurance policy for an additional cost. This benefit is also sometimes referred to as AD&D, which covers accidental death or dismemberment. Most travel medical and trip insurance plans will offer options to cover AD&D.

While it’s not something any traveler wants to think about, preparing for the possibility by buying this coverage will save your loved ones an additional financial blow, in the unfortunate event of your death while traveling.
